Chef Minggu
Born and raised in the coastal village of Besan Dawan, Klungkung, Chef Minggu — as he is warmly known — is a true son of Bali whose culinary journey has taken him through some of the island's most celebrated hotel kitchens. With over a decade of experience he has steadily risen through the ranks to become one of the island's quietly formidable Sous Chefs, currently holding the helm at Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort. His crowning moment came in 2017, when he was named one of only seven winners of the prestigious Indonesia Culinary Journey — a Marriott-wide competition that brought together the best culinary talents across the archipelago.
What defines Chef Minggu's craft is not just his technical command — from moist-heat cooking techniques to meticulous recipe and plate costing — but the quiet discipline and sincerity he brings to every corner of the kitchen. A natural leader who is equally at home training junior chefs, running floor operations, or refining a menu, he approaches his work with the same steady warmth he brings to his team. Whether he's plating a delicate seafood dish or running weekly staff meetings to keep the kitchen humming, Chef Minggu embodies the Balinese spirit of saling asah, asih, asuh — sharpening, caring, and nurturing those around him, one plate at a time.
